About
The Athletes’ Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games sits in heart of the Clyde Gateway area, on a 38 hectare site in Dalmarnock on the banks of the Clyde and directly opposite the Arena and Velodrome. During the Games, 6,500 athletes and officials lived in the Village and after the games it was transformed into a superb residential community with stunning new homes, amenities and public spaces, many of them on a riverside setting. Phase 1 post-Games delivered 700 homes, of which 300 were for sale and the remainder for social rent from the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), Thenue Housing Association and the West of Scotland Housing Association. Glasgow City Council provided a huge boost to the on-going regeneration activities of Dalmarnock with an investment of excess of £25m to provide a new nursery and primary school within the site of the Athletes’ Village. Silverdale Nursery opened in November 2017 and Riverbank Primary followed in August 2019.
