About
Abercromby Street / Tobago Street formed part of three Calton Sites extending in total to 1.29 Hectares which were transferred in March 2013 from Glasgow City Council (GCC) to Clyde Gateway as part of a stakeholders asset transfer programme. Part of the site was sold to Forsyth Glazing for the construction of an industrial unit now let to Howdens a joinery supply company, leaving a remaining development site of 1.2 Hectares at Abercromby Street/Tobago Street for onward disposal and development. Thenue Housing Association (THAL) had previously expressed interest in the site and over the course of 2012-15 undertook feasibility studies, including intrusive site investigations. THAL acquired the site in 2016 and is investing £12.7 m to deliver 77 new energy efficient flats and houses as part of its wider improvement plans for the local community. The homes will be complete in 2021 and their construction will provide a range of community benefits including valuable jobs and training opportunities.
