About
Abercromby Street / Tobago Street formed part of three Calton Sites extending in total to 1.29 Hectares which were transferred in March 2013 from Glasgow City Council (GCC) to Clyde Gateway as part of a stakeholders asset transfer programme. Part of the site was sold to Forsyth Glazing for the construction of an industrial unit now let to Howdens a joinery supply company, leaving a remaining development site of 1.2 Hectares at Abercromby Street/Tobago Street for onward disposal and development. Thenue Housing Association (THAL) had previously expressed interest in the site and over the course of 2012-15 undertook feasibility studies, including intrusive site investigations. THAL acquired the site in 2016 and is investing £12.7 m to deliver 77 new energy efficient flats and houses as part of its wider improvement plans for the local community. The homes will be complete in 2021 and their construction will provide a range of community benefits including valuable jobs and training opportunities.

About
The Athletes’ Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games sits in heart of the Clyde Gateway area, on a 38 hectare site in Dalmarnock on the banks of the Clyde and directly opposite the Arena and Velodrome. During the Games, 6,500 athletes and officials lived in the Village and after the games it was transformed into a superb residential community with stunning new homes, amenities and public spaces, many of them on a riverside setting. Phase 1 post-Games delivered 700 homes, of which 300 were for sale and the remainder for social rent from the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), Thenue Housing Association and the West of Scotland Housing Association. Glasgow City Council provided a huge boost to the on-going regeneration activities of Dalmarnock with an investment of excess of £25m to provide a new nursery and primary school within the site of the Athletes’ Village. Silverdale Nursery opened in November 2017 and Riverbank Primary followed in August 2019.

About
The site at Bridgeton Cross is adjacent to the redeveloped Olympia Building and just under 0.5 Hectare in size. It was previously occupied by derelict warehouses and a relocated supermarket prior to the structures being demolished in 2010. Clyde Gateway had considered a number of potential options for its future use and concluded that the proposals for an urban city housing development from Link Group Ltd offered the best solution. Link acquired the site in 2016 and developed 68 homes for social rent. Set across four apartment blocks all varying in scale the collection of affordable homes includes 24 amenity properties, six of which were designed for and built with wheelchair access in mind.

About
The nature of regeneration is such that investments in land remediation and infrastructure improvements often have to be made many years before the full benefits are realised. Dalmarnock Power Station was once a landmark structure with a chimney that towered over the entire area. It operated from the 1920s until 1977 and at its peak generated enough electricity to supply the entire city. It was finally demolished in 1980 with the vast site, more than 13 acres in size, on the banks of the River Clyde, becoming vacant and derelict. Clyde Gateway purchased the site from a private developer in 2010 and in March 2012 awarded a £3m contract to have it fully remediated with the removal of tonnes of concrete and steel left behind at the time of demolition together with the removal of the invasive Japanese Knotweed. A drainage system was installed to support future development plans. Clyde Gateway sold the 22 acre (8.9 hectare) Dalmarnock Riverside site to Link Group Ltd in a deal worth £5.7m, paving the way for what has been a vacant and derelict area on the banks of the River Clyde to come back into use for the first time in almost 40 years. The funding for the acquisition by Link was provided by Glasgow City Council. Link commenced a six-year investment programme worth £65m that is delivering 562 homes including a comprehensive housing mix of various sized units across different tenures including New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) purchase, mid-market rent (MMR), affordable rent and private purchase.
